Log Book
Terms
The short version: it is free, it is not tax advice, and you should keep your own copy of your records.
This is not tax advice
Log Book is a record keeping tool. It adds your kilometres up, works out a business use percentage from a logbook period, and applies the cents per kilometre rate the ATO publishes.
It does not advise you. Which method to claim under, whether a trip counts as business use, and what you can and cannot deduct are questions for your accountant or a registered tax agent. Ange Grayndler is a business operations manager, not a tax agent, and nothing in this app is a professional opinion.
The figures in the app are only as good as what you put in, and the rates are only as current as the app has been told. Check them against the ATO's own pages before you lodge.
No promises about it working
It is free, provided as is, and might stop working or disappear. There is no support desk and nobody is on call. It has not been audited by anybody.
Download your spreadsheet at the end of each income year. That is what turns this from a single point of failure into a convenience.
Your records are yours
Everything you put in belongs to you. You can download any year as a spreadsheet, remove anything, or ask for the whole account to be deleted.
Nothing you enter is sold, shared, or used to train anything.
What is expected of you
Keep your own records honest. A logbook is a statement to the ATO and this app will happily record whatever you type, including something wrong.
One account per person. Do not put somebody else's trips in your account and call them yours.
If something goes wrong
Tell Ange. There is no formal process, because there are only a handful of people using this.
To the extent the law allows, nobody is liable for any loss arising from using it, including a claim that is refused or adjusted. You are responsible for what you lodge.
